Apple has unveiled a new version of the iPhone: the iPhone 3GS, which it says will launch applications and run software faster than the previous model. The 3GS has the same design as the 3G. There’s no front-facing camera. The 3GS comes in two versions, a 16GB and a 32GB version.
“The ‘S’ is part of a new model name and it stands for speed.” this new iPhone will offer a faster processor, A2DP support and 7.2Mbps HSDPA connectivity. The iPhone 3GS is expected to have 15-20 percent longer battery life and twice the RAM and storage.
This new iPhone works with a speed that is approximately twice that of the pervious iPhone 3G. The phone supports OpenGL ES 2.0 standard that enhances the quality of 3D graphics. The voice control feature also offers operations via voice commands. The voice commands are capable of dialing numbers and controlling the music player.
This new iPhone will have a 3.2 megapixel camera which has all sorts of new features like auto focus, auto exposure, auto white balance, and VGA video recording, video editing and video sharing. The iPhone 3GS will be able to capture video at 30fps with audio. This camera also assists in recording high quality video clips. These clips can be edit and share with people via MobileMe or YouTube with just one tap.
Both the 16GB and 32GB are available for pre-order. The Apple iPhone 3G S will be available at $199 (approx. Rs.9, 440) for the 16GB model and $299 (approx. Rs.14, 180) for the 32GB model. The phone will be available through Apple and AT&T retail and online stores and it will come in only black and white color.
The phone will go on sale in the U.S., Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland on June 19, with six more countries to follow a week later.
