Asus unveiled its new Formula series graphics cards in India. The two Formula Series graphics cards are based on ATI Radeon HD 4770 and HD 4890 cards. The cards are designed as per aerodynamic design of the Formula One car.
Inspired by Formula One racing cars, Formula Series graphics cards have an aerodynamic design that leverages Asus’ proprietary micro surface technology and a special dust-proof fan to improve thermal efficiency by up to 33 percent-keeping the card cool during graphically intensive tasks. These cards are also claimed to be up to 12.4 decibels quieter than cards that use generically designed fan-sinks. This means a 30% reduction in noise levels which is good for those who want cooling without excessive fan rotation noise.
The Asus EAH4770 FORMULA/DI/512MD5 comprises of the ATI Radeon HD 4770 graphics engine with 512 GB of GDDR5 video memory, a 750 MHz engine clock, and a 3.2 GHz memory clock and a memory interface of 128-bit. The DVI Maximum Resolution this card has is 2560 x 1600. Its bus standard is PCI Express 2.0 and the DVI Output is DVI-I (Dual Link). This device is HDCP compliant and comes with a HDMI Out, D-Sub Output.
The Asus EAH4890 Formula/HTDI/1GD5 features an ATI Radeon HD 4890 graphics engine with 1 GB GDDR5 video memory, a 900 MHz engine clock, and a 3.9 GHz memory clock, as well as 256-bit mem interface, HDTV output and DVI-I (Dual Link) x 2 DVI output. Both are HDCP compliant and come with Asus utilities and drivers.
Taking its inspiration from the motor sports, the Formula Series incorporates design elements from the streamlined body of a Formula One racing car, relying on aerodynamic principles to increase airflow volume by 7 per cent and to draw heat away from the GPU and other components. A heat-sink boasting ASUS’ proprietary Micro Surface Treatment improves heat dissipation by up to 14 per cent, while a fan sporting a unique dust-proof design provides cooling for up to 10,000 hours longer than conventional fans.
The company is providing a warranty of 3 year with these cards. Asus is offering EAH4770 FORMULA/DI/512MD5 graphics card for Rs. 7,500 while the EAH4890 FORMULA/HTDI/1GD5 for Rs. 18,250.
