ASUS has officially announced its upcoming CULV based UL series of notebooks. Powered by an Intel Core2 Duo SU7300 ultra-low voltage CPUs, it features multi-core processing which combines two independent processor cores into one physical package along with 8GB DDR2 memory.
The new UL-series is comprised of the UL20, UL30, UL50, and UL80 notebooks; each feature Intel Core 2 Duo or Core Solo processors, 1366×768 display resolution, and a black or brushed aluminum chassis that is less than an inch thick. All these models are compatible with the Windows Vista or the Windows 7 operating system. Asus claims the notebooks offer up to 12 hours of use on a single battery charge.
The 12-inch UL20A features a 1.2GHz Celeron and 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo, up to 4GB of DDR2 memory and a 160 or 320GB hard drive. The UL30A brings a 13.3-inch LCD, a built-in 0.3MP webcam along with an optional 3.5G WWAN as well as the option of a 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo and a 500GB hard drive. Both models will ship with Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics and no optical drive.
The 15.6-inch UL50 comes in two versions, the UL50A and UL50Ag. The UL50A version offers support for a DDR3 memory, while the latter offers an option for DDR2 memory. These laptops also come with a built-in DVD Super-Multi optical drive. The UL50A has either a 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo or 1.4GHz Core 2 Solo, Intel GMA 4500 graphics and up to 4GB of RAM. The UL50Ag adds options for a 1.2GHz Celeron and a 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo.
In addition to this, the 14-inch UL80Ag boasts 4GB of DDR2 memory together and Intel’s integrated GMA 4500MHD graphics solution.
The 14-inch UL80V and 15.6-inch UL50Vg models will have the 512MB NVIDIA GeForce G 210M graphics along with the Intel GS45 chipset. The UL50Vg model can support up to 8GB of DDR2 memory, while the UL80V can be configured with up to 4GB of DDR3.
The UL50A, UL50Ag and UL50Vg all support between 250GB and 500GB of storage.
Users can zoom in/ out by pinching and navigate by simply sliding their finger on the multi-touch touchpad. The ergonomic chiclet keyboard and full-sized numerical keypad further add to the convenience.
The company is yet to reveal details about the pricing and availability of these notebooks.
