After launching Blackberry Curve 8520 in US and Canada, this time Research In Motion has bring this device to India. Airtel will reportedly launch the Curve 8520 in India. The phone is aimed at youth and consumers looking for messaging, email, social networking, music and entertainment.
The BlackBerry Curve 8520 features a new touch-sensitive trackpad, a full-QWERTY keyboard, 256MB flash memory, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, 512Mhz CPU, microSD/SDHC expansion up to 16GB, 2.4? screen, 2MP camera with video. The phone also comes with WiFi, video recording, and a largish 1,150mAh battery delivering 4.5 hours talk time and up to 17 days standby time. The phone comes with 256MB Flash memory and sports a decent 512 MHz CPU.
Initially, the new handset will only be available to customers of India’s largest telecom operator, Bharti Airtel Ltd, which will also offer pre-paid BlackBerry connections at Rs299. This is the first time pre-paid subscribers in India will have the option of accessing BlackBerry services. Airtel customers can sms ‘BB’ to 543210 to register to purchase the BlackBerry Curve 8520 and to get more information about the plans offered with the smartphone.
The BlackBerry Curve 8520 introduces a touch-sensitive track-pad, which makes navigation easy. It is also the first BlackBerry smartphone to feature dedicated media keys, which are integrated along the top of the handset. The BlackBerry Curve 8520 smartphone from Airtel measures 109 mm x 60 mm x 13.90 mm and weighs 106 grams including battery.
“We believe that the BlackBerry Curve 8520 will appeal to young professionals, students and a broad spectrum of retail customers who want the exceptional mobile experience for messaging, social networking, email, music and entertainment that you get from a BlackBerry smartphone,” declared Raghunath Mandava, Chief Marketing Officer, Mobile Services, Airtel.
The BlackBerry Curve 8520 will be available from Airtel’s authorized outlets through Bharti Teletech Limited across India on August 7th. The Price would be Rs.15990.
