Dell has launched a new entry-level notebook Dell Vostro 1220 for small businesses. An ideal notebook for business class users, who don’t want high-end features like that of the Latitude series, but just want an ultra-portable notebook.
“Today’s globe-trotting entrepreneurs need a laptop that is powerful and long-lasting,” said Sam Burd, global vice president of Dell Small and Medium Business, in a statement. “That used to mean carrying around an ungainly device,” Burd added, “[but] the Vostro 1220 combines performance, built-in security and long battery life.”
The 12.1 inch Vostro 1220 ships with Windows Vista Home Basic, but is available with Vista Ultimate, Ubuntu Linux or FreeDOS operating systems. Other features include up to 4 GB of system memory. The Vostro 1220 comes equipped with 3GHz Intel Core2 Duo processor and supports up to 8GB RAM. For the storage drive, users can select up to either 500GB hard disk drive or 16 to 128GB solid state drives. There’s an Intel GM45 Express chipset. An 8X DVD+RW drive and a Blu-ray BD Combo are available. Vostro 1220 has a 12.1-inch WXGA 1280×800 pixel resolution supporting LED display.
Optional extras include a fingerprint sensor, solid-state drive, integrated 1.3megapixel Webcam, microphone, headphone, hard disk encryption, a 34mm ExpressCard slot, three USB 2.0 ports, a 3-in-1 card reader and mobile broadband radio. Dell boasts nine hours of battery life with an optional 6-cell battery pack. The Vostro 1220 comes with a one-year limited warranty and has a starting price of $799 (Rs. 38, 400).
