Dell has announced the introduction of its new small-sized, low-power portable computer system, dubbed Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition. Dell says the netbook based on the Inspiron Mini 10v is designed to be safe, educational and entertaining.
The new device features the Viacom Inc channel’s trademark “green slime” design, a personalized user interface with Nickelodeon-branded desktop wallpaper and icons and easy access to the channel’s online content.
The Nickelodeon Edition aims to balance the demand for kid-friendly entertainment with parental controls that protect kids from online dangers. Designed with kids in mind, the hardware is durable and highly portable with user-friendly features and functions.
The Nickelodeon PC is based on Dell’s Inspiron Mini 10v which features a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 10.1 inch, 1024 x 576 pixel display, 1GB of RAM, and 160GB hard drive and built-in wireless Internet access. Weighing less than 3 pounds, the Dell Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition can be easily carried by kids.
Dell is promoting the safety aspects of its netbook. Parents can limit web access to specific sites and change limitations as needed. For added security, the Dell Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition comes with Lo-Jack for Laptops and a 15-month subscription to McAfee Family Security.
Dell has not announced any pricing details for the netbook, but it will be available in October in United States through Dell’s online store and at Wal-Mart Stores.
