HP has unveiled its latest line of wirelessly connected screen display systems. The 10.2- and 13.3-inch “smart screens” know as the DreamScreen 100 and 300, respectively, combine the display of a digital picture frame with the connectivity and media sharing abilities of a home theater PC.
The HP DreamScreen features a piano-black design with a vibrant, flush glass widescreen display. Both models have 800 x 480 pixel display resolutions. The device supports a variety of popular media formats, including MPEG 1, 2 and 4, AVI, M-Jpeg, H.264, MP4, JPEG, PNG, BMP, TIFF, MP3, WMA, AAC, and WAV.
The HP DreamScreen feature 2GB of on-board memory, 802.11g Wi-Fi, memory card reader, USB port. The frames allow users to simply drag and drop files from the network. They feature software for watching videos and visiting web destinations including Pandora, Snapfish, and Facebook. In addition, the HP DreamScreen gives users access to HP SmartRadio, a new service that aggregates streams of live Internet broadcasts from more than 10,000 radio stations around the world.
The 10.2-inch DreamScreen 100 is available for purchase online and is price tagged at $250. This frame will be made available at retail outlets by October 11, while the DreamScreen 130 will arrive later in the fall for $300.
