Kingston has announced its first 256 GB data traveler 300 USB flash drive. The 256 GB USB flash can also be used on PCs, laptops and especially the netbooks to increase the limited storage space. The USB flash drive is designed for users who travel and those who work with large databases.

“The DataTraveler 300 will enable users to carry huge volumes of data with them everywhere they go – up to 365 CDs for example. That’s one album for every day of the year, and it demonstrates how far flash technology has developed,” commented Kirsty Miller, Product Marketing Manager – Consumer, Kingston Technology Europe. “Business users and consumers can also safeguard their data by initializing the Password Traveler software which will allow them to password protect their data in a privacy zone without the need of administrator rights.”

The flash drive is perfect for all netbook users who are looking for portable and extended storage, easily carried in pocket. Business consumers who work with large databases can also use it, or even designers who need to transfer large design files from one place to another.

The DataTraveler 300 has data transfer rates of up to 20MB/sec read speeds and 10MB/sec write speeds. Overall dimensions of the product are 70.68mm x 16.9 mm x 21.99 mm and can operate in temperatures from 32° to 140° F. It can additionally be stored in temperatures ranging from -4° to 185° F.

The drive sports a durable capless design that protects the USB connector when kept aside and not in use. It can be used as an extended memory in Windows Vista and the latest Windows 7. Windows ReadyBoost is also supported on Vista computers. This USB flash drive is available with new password traveler software, which permits creating and access password on this protected area.

The USB drive is available only in 256 GB and is backed by a five-year warranty and free Tech Support. HCL, Tech Pacific India and Transtek Infoways distribute Kingston products in India.
