Kodak has announced an exciting new addition to its popular line of Digital Video Cameras – the KODAK Zi8 Pocket Video Camera featuring a sleek design. The Zi8 captures video in 1080p HD. Along with recording1080p HD video; the Zi8 can snap 5-megapixel still shots at a 16:9 aspect ratio. It also includes a built-in electronic image stabilizer.
The Zi8 can capture at a full 1920×1080 at 30 frames per second, producing movies that show at the full resolution of a Blu-ray movie. It can also capture at 720p using a fast 60 frames per second. The Zi8 has an HDMI-out port and a swing-out USB arm. The swing-out USB plug makes charging, copying and uploading video files to Facebook and YouTube quick and easy according to Kodak. It also assists in charging the camera. The device is compatible with both PC and Mac operating system.
Other features include a 5MP sensor for still images, Vivid 2.5-inch LCD, and built-in image stabilization to reduce blur. Additional features include Smart Face Tracking, and External microphone jack. The Kodak Pocket Video remote control allows users to start recording or playback a particular video. Kodak claims that the Zi8 will give improved results and more accurate colors in low light conditions.
The accessories available for the Zi8 include SDHC memory cards, KLIC-7004 lithium ion batteries, adventure mounts for helmets, handlebars and flexi-tripod. The company also offers cases, camera bags and neck straps to go along with the camera. The memory can be expanded up to 32GB via MicroSD/SDHC cards. It gives a recording time of approximately 10 hours.
The KODAK Zi8 Pocket Video Camera will be available in aqua, raspberry and black from September, 2009, and retail for $179.95.
