Lenovo announced the first Ion netbook the IdeaPad S12, combining Nvidia’s chipset with Intel’s 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor.
Enhancements include a 12.1-inch screen, a 100 percent full-size keyboard and new graphics options with the NVIDIA ION platform. It Measures 1.14-inch-thick, and weighs 1.4kg (1.55kg with a six cell battery).
The S12, which runs Windows XP Home, has a 160GB, 5,400-rpm hard drive, 1GB of RAM, a 4-in-1 card reader, and a 1.3-megapixel webcam with Veriface face-recognition login security software.The S12 comes equipped with 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor with Intel integrated GMA 950 paired with Nvidia ION. Up to 1GB DDR2 533MHz memory can be used, while up to 320GB HDD can be used for storage.
Other features include ExpressCard Slot for 3G, WiFi, Ethernet port, three USB ports, 4-in-1 card reader and VGA port, RJA45, HDMI, a multitouch trackpad and Lenovo’s Quick Start, VeriFace, and OneKey Rescue System for making backups.
It will be available in white or black color. The IdeaPad S12 netbook will offer up to six hours of battery life with 6 cell battery 3 hours for 3 cell battery. The netbook will be available in June and is priced $449(Rs. 21,500 appox.).
