Motorola has just unveiled a new rugged handset, the Motorola Quantico. The Quantico’s casing is made from chrome, glass and rubber and is build to survive extreme temperature, dust, shock, and poor weather conditions. The phone meets military specification 810F and can be submerged in 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes without being damaged.

The clamshell features a 2.2-inch internal display with 176 x 220 pixel resolution and support for 65k colors, coupled with a 1.6-inch external display that delivers a 120 x 160 pixel resolution. The Motorola Quantico comes to the market with support for CDMA 1700/2100MHz and 800/1900MHz CDMA EVDO frequencies.


Other features of the phone include GPS, Stereo Bluetooth, USB 2.0 connectivity, Music player, 2.5mm headset jack, MMS, email, 1.3 megapixel fixed focus camera, MicroSD card support and a 1140 mAh battery which can deliver up to 5.8 hours of talk time, or up to 18.6 days of standby time. The Motorola Quantico measures 2.2 x 3.7 x 1.0 inches and weighs 4.2 oz.

The Motorola Quantico is available from U.S. Cellular for $99.95 after a two-year customer agreement and mail-in rebate.
