Nokia has announced its first TD-SCDMA handset, the 6788. This is Nokia’s first device for TD-SCDMA, China’s domestic 3G standard. The Nokia 6788 is the outcome of an alliance between Nokia and China Mobile.
The handset has been developed specifically to support China Mobile’s 3G network and offers rich data services. It is an all-in-one device that provides its users with faster Internet speeds and download times.
The handset boasts a 5-megapixel camera with a dual-LED flash, 2.8-inch QVGA display, and Symbian S60 platform. It lets users immediately share data. This camera is capable of capturing images with a resolution of 2592 x1944 pixels. It also comes with 4GB of storage. The handset design is inspired by traditional Chinese furniture and architecture with Chinese patters on the back of the slide and the battery cover. The phone will be available in two color variants: Black with Red Highlights and a brown version with a pinch of gold.
The Nokia 6788 is expected to become available at the end of December 2009.
