The long wait is finally over for most gadget conscious consumers in India as the Nokia N97 makes its debut in the country. Nokia N97, the latest multimedia computer from the Finnish giant is now available across all the Nokia stores and resellers across India.

It is an important step towards our vision of delivering a highly personalized Internet experience,” said Vineet Taneja, Director-Marketing, Nokia India. “Fuelled by a multitude of media and applications through the Ovi Store, the Nokia N97 transforms the Internet into an experience that’s completely tailored to the tastes and interests of its user”.
The Nokia N97 is a touch-screen mobile device that has a five megapixel camera and supports up to 48 GB of storage. Nokia revealed the N97 has 32 GB of on-board memory, expandable with a 16 GB microSD card. The N97 is a high-end multimedia phone that has a talk time of 6.6 hours and 430 hours of standby time, according to the company. Connectivity features include support for 3G, GPRS, GPS, HSDPA, Java, Bluetooth, A2DP, USB and Wi-Fi. Weighing just about 150 grams, the Nokia N97 is sure to give competitors a run for their money.
The Nokia N97 also boasts of DVD quality video capture and high-quality Carl Zeiss optics. A large 3.5 inch touch display with a full QWERTY keyboard will allow consumers to experience entertainment of the highest quality. The N97 has full support for Nokia Music Store and offers continuous playback time of up to 1.5 days.
The Nokia N97 is the only Nokia device which provides an access to the newly opened Ovi store. This store is a one-stop shop for a full list of applications, videos, games, podcasts, web, productivity tools, location based services and much more. It has paid and free content access to a range of worldwide and confined content providers like Facebook, Paramount Pictures and Twitter. The Ovi store, in India provides an option of free to download and paid items developed in particular for Indian customers, by Indian developers under the aegis of Forum Nokia. Users can also access global items which are a combination of paid and free to download content.
The phone is designed for the needs of Internet-savvy consumers providing a personalized home screen, the phone allows users to select from their favorite content. It delivers an ‘always open’ window for applications along with social networking sites, RSS feeds and a host of other widgets including Ovi feeds.
The Nokia N97 has been introduced with an easy EMI payment system for the first time ever. Nokia has teamed up with HDFC and Citibank to offer the phone in a 3 month EMI option at 0% interest rate. In addition to this, Vodafone users can also enjoy an exclusive free data plan over three months for 24 x 7 access to various Internet services. Besides, a unique lifestyle widget called ‘The Groove’ will be offered exclusively to Nokia N97 winners on Vodafone. This widget provides users with live updates on dining out, shopping, clubbing, movies, cultural events and sports.
The N97 will cost Rs.36, 119 in India and will be available at almost all retail outlets across the country.
