Nokia unveiled three new mobile phones – the 2730 Classic, the 2720 Fold and the Nokia 7020 in India. All three phones are Internet-ready, and work with Nokia’s range of emerging market services such as Nokia Life Tools and Ovi Mail.
The Nokia 2730 Classic is a classic candybar phone. It features a 2-inch, 262k color TFT display, microSD memory slot for extra storage, music player, FM radio and a 3.5 mm audio jack micro USB connector, 30MB of expandable memory and Bluetooth 2.0. The camera is a 2 megapixel with 4x digital zoom but adds basic 3G over WCDMA, including on the 850MHz band. The phone will be available at an approximate a price of Rs. 5,300.
The Nokia 2720 Fold is a slim, mirrored clamshell phone with an interesting mirror-effect design. It features a 1.8 inch 65k color TFT display with a resolution of 128*160, 1.3 megapixel camera; Bluetooth; a personal organizer; music player; FM radio; and wireless Web browser, and comes with Ovi Mail support. It comes with 32MB of memory with no memory expansion capabilities. It comes in black or deep red color schemes. The 2720 is not 3G ready but supports EDGE. The phone will be available at an approximate price of Rs. 3,600.
The Nokia 7020 again is a clamshell phone and comes with a metal finish and changing shell colors. The 7020 has a 2.2 inch, QVGA display. It has a 2 megapixel camera, FM tuner, and support for microSD cards up to 16GB and MP3 playback and comes in graphite, hot pink or silver and blue. It comes pre-loaded with Nokia Life Tools, Ovi Share, Ovi Store, Nokia Messaging, Opera Mini and Nokia Maps in addition to Facebook, MySpace and YouTube bookmarks. This is a Quad band GSM phone with EDGE support. 3G however seems to be missing. The phone will be available at an approximate price of Rs. 6,000.
The 2720 and 2730 models will be available in 2009 third quarter; the 7020 models will be available in the fourth quarter of this year.
