Panasonic Japan has announced a new video-conferencing system the KX-VC500. It will allow you to use HD-quality screens for communicating. The system mainly consists of a device Panasonic calls HD communication unit and a remote control, connecting users via the web.
The company says its KX-VC500 system will be able to handle 1920x1080i resolutions with speeds of up to 8Mb/s. It doesn’t come with a microphone and a camera. The main unit can be plugged into any screen capable of displaying HD images. It features two HDMI ports and an RGB interface. Panasonic promises superior sound quality (MPEG-4 AAC LD, 20 kHz).
The KX-VC500 is set to hit the Japanese market only next October, with no available information on pricing. Panasonic hasn’t said yet whether it will be available outside Japan.
