Korean electronics giant Samsung has announced three new touch screen handsets in the Indian market with the announcement of the Samsung Star S5233, Star S5603 and the Samsung Beat DJ. With this, Samsung now has seven touch screen phones in its portfolio of over 50 handset models.
Sunil Dutt, Country Head, Samsung Mobile Division says, “Samsung Star and Samsung Star 3G are significant additions to our full-touch screen mobile portfolio, featuring all the essential functions in one single device. At Samsung, our effort is to deliver various full touch products for every consumer lifestyle”.
Samsung’s Star (S5233) comes in a slim and compact body that measures a mere 11.9 mm. The touch screen WQVGA screen area is 7.63 cm and Samsung’s TouchWiz User Interface with mobile widgets. However, most of the touch screen options can be performed by simply using your fingers. It also comes with a stylus for greater convenience.
The 3.2 megapixel camera included in the Samsung Star (S5233) model has a smile recognition capability. It supports multi-format playback and DNSe. Another exciting feature is the gesture control that allows users to run a program or simply lock / unlock the mobile phone using gesture control. The phone has a 50MB internal memory expanded to maximum of 8GB. The phone also comes bundled with Google applications like Google Search, Gmail, Google maps. The S5233 is available at an affordable price of Rs.9000.
Samsung Star 3G is a 3G enabled phone and is equipped with full internet browsing facilities with an accelerometer sensor for auto-rotation; and features a 3.2 mega-pixel camera with Power LED Flash; the TouchWiz User Interface; a QVGA full-touch screen; and is capable of video recording in QVGA resolution at 15 fps and has 80MB internal memory, which can further be expanded up to 8GB. This phone is available at an affordable price of Rs.14, 499.
Samsung Beat DJ comes with a DISC User Interface incorporates Bang & Olufsen audio technology. With BEAT DJ application & DISC users can add preloaded voice samples and sound effects to their favorite songs and record it.The Beat DJ has 50MB of on-board memory expandable to 8GB with micro SD cards. On the imaging front, this one sports a decent 3.0 megapixel camera. The speakers too are B&O branded and and are powered by their ICEpower amplifier. . The phone has 2.8-inch AMOLED touchscreen display (240 x 400 pixels with 16 million colors),50MB internal microSD card slot (up to 16GB). This phone is available at an affordable price of Rs.18, 990.
