Samsung India has introduced a wide rang of Light Emitting Diodes (LED) technology-based televisions in the Indian market. Light Emitting Diode (LED) is an updated version of LCD screens which offers standard quality picture. The company claimed that the new LED TVs consume less electricity and are made of environment-friendly products.Unlike the LCD TVs which use normal liquid crystal display technology, the new ranges of Samsung TVs use light emitting diodes. The new LED TV series offer ultra-high contrast ratios, slim depths, artful designs and increased energy savings. The LED HDTV series of Samsung has a number of interesting features to reduce motion blur and image judder.

“We are expecting our LED TV volumes to be 10 per cent of our flat panel TV volumes this year,” Samsung India Deputy Managing Director R Zutshi said. The company is targeting to sell six lakh units of flat panel TVs in India during 2009.

By using Edge LED technology, Samsung has been able to shave all three series down to ultra-thin depths at just over an inch thick (1.16 inch or 29.9 mm thickness), without cutting back on connectivity options and include a built in tuner. Samsung created a slim wall-mount solution – reducing the gap between the TV and the wall to around 0.6 inches, down from the two inches of bulkier solutions.

The LED HDTVs are able to connect to a host of other devices easily. Users can view videos and photos from a camcorder, access multimedia files from a portable drive and play music from a media player. Customers can watch all content stored in their PC on the Samsung HDTVs without attaching any wires or cables. This is possible with the DLNA Wireless feature found only in Series 7 and 8. The Content Library Flash allows users to access and view games, galleries, cooking and lots more.

In the series 6 LED TV, the 40-inch screen is priced at Rs 1, 25,000 while the 46-inch costs Rs 1,50,000.
