Samsung has announced the introduction of two new color options for its line of S-series external hard drives. It will now be able available in two new “Pop” colors; sweet pink and ocean blue. The two new colors join four previously available offerings: piano black, snow white, wine red and chocolate brown.
Samsung also announced an update to their S1 Mini external hard drive line that adds a new 160GB model to the mix, providing its customers with more options for their external storage requirements.
The latest additions join the company’s S-series, introduced back in October 2008 in 120GB and 500GB capacities for the 1.8-inch S1 Mini and S2 Portable 2.5-inch drives.
C.H. Lee, the vice president, storage sales and marketing, Samsung Electronics stated, “With an extraordinary capacity for its small footprint, the Samsung S1 series features low power, portability, convenience and eco-friendliness. The new 160GB edition also provides convenient backup with ease of handling, featuring an ultra-compact credit-card size casing.”
About the size of a credit card, the S1 features auto back-up, a capacity gauge, a USB 2.0 connection, 128-bit and 256-bit AES encryption, password security and a standby mode. Important features that enhance the usability of Samsung’s external hard drives include SecretZone, SafetyKey. Samsung’s SecretZone protects important files and data in the form of software-based AES-128bit or AES-256bit encryptions, while SafetyKey ensures the external drive’s data is securely locked with a password protection.
The “Pop” edition is shipping now and will be available globally by the end of June.
