Samsung has unveiled the world’s first 12 megapixel camera phone the Samsung Pixon 12 (M8910) with a full touch screen.
The Pixon 12 features a 3.1-inch touchscreen AMOLED display with a 10,000:1 contrast ratio and a 12 Megapixel with touch auto-focus, Xenon and Power LED flash, 28mm wide angle lens, Smart Auto mode and dedicated shutter button.
The Samsung Pixon 12 features Touch Auto-Focus Tracking whereby the user selects a focus point with the touch of a finger, and then the auto-focus will automatically follow the object and keep it in focus. Both images and videos – which the Pixon12 records with 720×480 resolutions at 30 frames per second – can be uploaded to social-networking sites such as Facebook, Picasa, Flickr, MySpace, Photobucket, Friendster.
The phone has built-in GPS receiver, FM tuner, 150MB internal memory (up to 16GB MicroSD expansion), and a microSD card slot. It supports quad-band GSM/EDGE and dual-band UMTS/ HSPA 3.5 networks as well as Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity.
The Samsung Pixon 12 will be available in Europe as of the end of June and other countries sometime in August. Pricing is not yet known.
