Samsung announced their first E-Book Reader: The SNE-50K. It will be sold in South Korea initially with content provided by a local bookstore chain. The company aims to launch it in other parts of the world as well.
The SNE-50K will support handwriting recognition, so users can write and store memos, manage schedules, and view calendar appointments. It currently does not support wireless downloads or connections to the internet. The device will also let people read text files, PDFs, and Microsoft Office documents by converting those files into a viewable BMP graphic format.
Samsung’s SNE-50K e-book has a five-inch touchscreen and a resolution of 600×800 pixels. It has a battery life of 4,320 page views on a single charge, and comes with a 512MB of built-in memory and weighs just 6.5 ounces.
It will cost about $274, but a release date is not yet known.
