Sony Ericsson has officially unveiled the Xperia X2, the successor to the company’s expensive, unlocked Xperia X1 smartphone.
The X2 also boasts of the new SlideView feature, which provides quick access to frequently used phone activities. The SlideView offers an overview of the missed calls, e-mails, and text messages. With 14 specially designed preloaded XPERIA panels and 16 more to download, users can work with no boundaries with the XPERIA X2. Be it Skype, Google or games, the panels keep users updated about the activities important to them.
The X2 comes with 3.2 inch TFT touchscreen display with 480 x 800 pixels. It is first phones to run Windows Mobile 6.5. It has a massive 8.1-megapixel camera with autofocus, image stabilization, geotagging, a 16x digital zoom and flash. It comes with a 110MB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 4GB via microSD memory card.
Powered by QWERTY messaging, Windows Mobile users can even show their presentations on the big screen with the TV out cable. XPERIA X2 supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSPA 850/900/2100.
The highlights of the device are the advanced touch interface and the 3D signature panel. It enables users to categorize features such as business, fun and more. The X2 will have panels on the home screen that can give users one-click access to things like Facebook, Skype, Google, business apps, and phone functionalities.
The X2 also features Bluetooth stereo (A2DP), instant messaging, a YouTube application, a Web browser, a document viewer, Sony Ericsson media player, stereo speakers, Windows Media Player, bookmarks, A-GPS and support for USB and Wi-Fi. It measures 110mm x 54mm x 16mm and weighs115 grams.
The X2 will be available in selected markets from early Q4 in the colors Elegant Black and Modern Silver.
